Q 1. 20 kg. of water at 90c. is mixed with 30 kg. of water at 30c., and the pressure remain constant during the mixing operation . calculate the decrese in available energy , it may be presume that the surround are at 10 drg.c. temperature and for water.

Take cp= 4.18 kj/kg k

Q 2. show that for a perfact gas, the difference between the specific heat (cp-cv) can be expressed as

(cp-cv) = [p+(du/dv)t](dv/dt)p=pvp+vp(du/dv)t where p is the coefficient of volume expansion.

Q 3. explain relation for internal energy and enthalpy.

Q.l Compare the crippling loads given by Ranldne and Eulers formula for a tubular strut 225cm long having outer and inner diameter j7,5mm,32.5mm respectively loaded pin joints at both ends. Take yield stress as 31.5KN\cm2, a = 1/7500 and E 2x10 KN/cnr.If the elastic limit of material is taken as 20KN\cm below what length of strut does the Eulers formula cease to apply.    /jm

Q.2 A beam AB of span 8m is simply supported at ends A and B and is loaded as shown in figure. Taking E= 2X108KN\m2 and 1= 8.6X10 mm4. Find the position and magnitude of maximum deflection.
