1. elaborate resolution and magnification power of a microscope? Enumerate the principle and
use of phase-contrast microscope. Write about magnification in transmission electron
microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). 4+8+2 = 14
Or
elaborate the utilities of staining in biological studies? Enumerate the speciality of
chromatography and electrophoresis as separation techniques. State the basic principle of
paper chromatography with necessary diagrams. 3+4+2+5 = 14

2. What is meant by DNA cloning? Enlist different steps involved in DNA cloning. What is
genomic library? define DNA probes and monoclonal antibodies and mention their
applications in medical sciences. 2+4+2+6 = 14

describe epitope. Differentiate ranging from humoral immunity and cell-mediated immunity. Enlist
the causative organism, mode of transmission, symptoms and control of AIDS. 2+4+8 = 14

3. Write the location of pancreas. define with diagram the histological structure of it.
Enumerate its role as exocrine and endocrine glands. State the functions of spleen.

4. What do you understand by radioactivity? elaborate alpha, beta and gamma emissions? What
