It was 5 minutes since Dasa was gone when the youngest son cried : 'See there!' out of a hole in the compound wall a cobra emerged. It glided along towards the gate, paused for a moment to look at the gathering in the veranda with its hood half-opened. It crawled under the gate and disappeared along a drain.

(i) Who is the author of the above passage ?
(ii) Why was the youngest son so astonished and cried "see there" ?
(iii) What is the meaning of the word 'glided' ?
