(b) Enumerate chemical mediators of nerve activity.
(c) Name important compounds derived from Cholesterol.
(d) Differences between DNA and RNA.
(e) Biochemical role of Vitamin C.

What is the normal fasting blood glucose level. What are hormones which influence blood glucose levels and how do they act. Briefly discuss changes in metabolism in Diabetes Mellitus.

How ammonia is detoxified in the body ? Describe the reactions of urea cycle. Discuss the interrelation of urea cycle with TCA (citric acid) cycle.
3. Attempt any ONE question out of the following two questions and Answer should be upto 5 pages in length. [15]
(a) What are Ketone bodies ? Explain the reactions leading to formation of them. How are they utilised in the body.
OR
(b) Describe the β-oxidation of fatty acids. What are the coenzymes required for β-oxidation. Explain the steps of β-oxidation of palmitic acid giving energetics.
