1. Discuss the maceration process for organized drugs. How does it differ from the process used for unorganized drugs.
2. Define posology. Discuss ten factors influencing the dose of a drug.

3. Classify mixtures. List out the ideal properties of a mixture. Mention the method of preparation of a mixture with diffusible solids

 


Short notes (14x5=70)

4. Explain the different instability aspects of emulsions.

5. Explain the preparation and dispensing of a eutectic powder with an example.

6. What are liniments and how do they differ from lotions. Mention the formulation of an official lotion.

7. How a prescription should be handled.

8. Discuss any four chemical incompatibilities.

9. List the ideal properties of suppository bases. Add a note on emulsifying bases.

10. History of pharmacopoeia of India

11. Define the terms  Jellies  Tinctures  Mixtures  Loseznges  Paints

12. Discuss any five important sources of errors in a prescription

13. Absorption type ointment bases

14. Mention any two formulae to calculate child’s dose. Calculate the dose for a six year old child if the adult dose is 500 mg.

15. Calculate displacement value of zinc oxide in cocoa butter suppositories containing 40% zinc oxide prepared in 1 gm mould. The weight of 6 suppositories is 6.3 gm.

16. What are dusting powders and discuss the different types of dusting powders

17. Discuss any four solution type of dosage forms.
