Answer All the Questions
11.   (a)    Explain internal and external redundancy for a truss.
(b)   The truss shown in frag. Determine the vertical deflection of joint B under the application of force p = 50kN. The cross-section of each member is 5cm2 E = 200GPa.
(or)
12.   Find the force in the members of the truss shown in fig by any one method.
13.   Determine the force X in the diagonal AD taking it as the staticall indeterminate quantity. Assume cross section of all the bars as equal.
(or)
14.   A beam of length ‘L’ is fixed at both ends and carries a concentrated load P at the mid point. Find the support moments and deflection at the centre.
15.   State and prove Castigliano’s theorem.
(or)
16.   Explain how energy principles can be used morden to estimate the buckling load of a column Obtain the critical buckling load for a fixed – fixed.
17.   Column starting from the 2nd orders differential equation.
(or)
18.   A pin-pin column is subjected to a compressive load ‘P’ with eccentricity ‘C’. Determine the maximum deflection and bending stress in the column.
19.   Write short notes on
        (a)    Distortion theory
