7.     What is main characteristics feature of an air refrigeration system?
8.     What are the essential qualities of good refrigeration?

11.   Explain the working principle for four stroke petrol engine with suitable diagram.

12.   What is ignition system? With suitable diagram explain the working principle of coil ignition system.
13.   What is multipoint fuel injection system? Explain microprocessor based fuel injection system.

14.   The following result refers to a test on a petrol engine.
Indicated power = 30kW; brake power = 26kW; engine speed = 1000rpm; fuel = 0.25 kg Calorific value of the fuel = 43900kJ/kg. Calculate (a) the indicated thermal efficiency (b) the brake thermal efficiency and (3) the mechanical efficiency.
15.   Describe with a neat sketch the construction and working of a single stage single acting reciprocating air compressor.

16.   In a steam nozzle the steam expands from 4 bar to 1 bar. The initial velocity is 60m/s and the initial temperature is 200°C. Determine the exit velocity if the nozzle efficiency is 92%.
17.   Describe a simple vapour compression refrigeration system with suitable sketch.

18.   A Carnot refrigerator requires 1.3 kW per ton of refrigeration to maintain a region at low temperature of -38°C. Determine (a) COP of the Carnot refrigerator (b) Higher temperature of the cycle. (c) The heat delivered and COP when this device is used as a heat pump.
19.   Draw a block diagram of a simple round year air conditioning system and briefly explain the process on a psychometric chart.

20.   A small office hall of 25 persons capacity is provided with summer air conditioning system with the following data: Outside condition = 34°C DBT and 28°WBT; inside conditions = 24°DBT and 50% RH; volume of air supplied = 0.4 cubic meter/min/persons; sensible heat load in room = 125600kJ/h; latent heat load in room = 42000kJ/h. Find the sensible heat factor of the plant.
