RESEARCH IN CHILD STUDIES
(Old and 2002 onwards)
Time : Three hours Maximum : 100 marks
PART A — (5 × 8 = 40 marks)
Answer any FIVE questions in about 200 words each.
All questions carry equal marks.
1. Suggest eight areas of research on children.
2. Mention four advantages of making a review of related literature.
3. What criteria will guide you while selecting a research problem?
4. Write a note on ethonography.
5. Explain longitudinal research design with an example.
6. Describe the suitability of observation as a method of doing research on children.
7. What are the advantages and limitations of cross sectional design of research?
8. Write a note on research ethics.
PART B — (4 × 15 = 60 marks)
Answer any FOUR questions in about 400 words each.
All questions carry equal marks.
9. Select a topic for action research and prepare a research design.
10. Explain various sampling techniques with their relative strengths and weaknesses.
11. Describe interview as a tool for collecting data from children. What are its strengths and limitations?
12. What are experimental designs? Give example for any two designs.
13. Write in detail the contents of a research report highlighting the precautions you will take to avoid common mistakes.
14. Explain the steps in the construction and standardization of an observation schedule.
15. Explain the role of descriptive statistics in analysis of data.
