ans ALL ques..
All ques. carry equal marks.

1. (a) State and prove the multiplication theorem of probability.

Or

(b) every co-efficient in the formula ax2 + bx + c = 0 is determined by throwing an ordinary die. obtain the probability that the formula will have real roots.

2. (a) For a binomial distribution the mean is six and the standard deviation is two . Write out all the term of distribution.

Or

(b) Derive the mean of the Poisson distribution.

3. (a) discuss correlation coefficient.

Or

(b) obtain the Karl Pearson's correlation coefficient ranging from the values of X and Y provided below:
X : 78 89 96 69 59 79 68 61
Y : 125 137 156 112 107 136 123 108

4. (a) describe sampling distribution and standard fault.

Or

(b) 200 digits were chosen at random from a set of tables. The frequencies of the digits were:
Digits 0 one two three four five six seven eight nine
Frequencies 18 nine 23 21 16 25 22 20 21 15
Use x2 test to assess the correctness of hyptothesis that the digits were distributed in equal numbers in the table.

5. (a) discuss the one-way ANOVA method.

Or

(b) Set up a two-way ANOVA table for the subsequent table : Pieces of lang Treatment
P Q R S
X 18 19 21 20
Y 16 17 20 19
Z 20 19 18 17

obtain its (a) m.g.f (b) mean
and (c) variance.

7. There are 64 beds in a garden and three seeds of a particular kind of flower are sown in every bed. The probability of a flower being white is 14. obtain the number of beds with 3,2,1 and 0 white flowers.

8. calculate the 2 regression coefficients using the values of true means of X and Y from the data provided beneath and then work out the values of 'r':
X seven four eight six five
Y six five nine eight two

9. Write notes on statistical inference.
