1. Define particle size. What is shape factor. Based on size analysis how do you
determine avg. surface area of a mixture. provide equations for three various
mean diameters. (10)
2. Define liberation size and discuss the need for size reduction. Starting from
basic differential formula derive the three laws of size reduction, and indicate the
range of (feed size) application. (10)
3. Describe the three industrial screens. Derive the expression for screen
effectiveness. How does it vary with capacity. (10)
4.a) Differential and cumulative analysis. (05)
b) five cms feed is crushed to avg. size of one cm. consuming 10 kwh/ton. If feed
size is altered to four cms what is the power consumption? Justify the legal regulations you
use. (05)
