1. Important attitudes are the ones that reflect fundamental values self interest or personal identification with individual or groups. Attitudes that an individual considers important tend to show a strong relationship to behavior.
2. Specificity of the attitude. The more specific the attitude the more specific the behavior, the stronger the relationship ranging from the two.
3. Attitudes that are recollected more easily are more to predict behavior that those which are difficult to recall. These attitudes which are expressed frequently are more likely to shape the behavior.
4. Social pressures can reason discrepancies ranging from attitudes and this is what tends to characterize behavior in organizations.
5. Direct experience of an individual on any topic provides a stronger relationships ranging from attitude and behavior as an individual obtains it easier to relate to the topic than a hypnotically situation.
Thus if these factors are kept in mind when a survey is designed, would definitely improve the relationships ranging from attitude and behavior.
Q.2: A) If job satisfaction is not a behavior, why is it considered an important dependent variable?
ANS:
Job satisfaction is described as a collection of feelings that an individual holds towards his or her job. People with high level of job satisfaction hold positive feelings about his/her job and vice versa.
It is considered as an important dependent variable because of its demonstrated relationship to performance factors and the value preference held by organizational researchers. The general belief that satisfied employees are more productive than dissatisfied employees has been the general rule among the managers.
Job satisfaction is directly related to turnover and absenteeism. OB researchers with strong humanistic values argues that satisfaction is legitimate objective of the company, not only is satisfaction negatively related to absenteeism and turnover, but they argue that organizations have a responsibility to give employee with jobs that are challenging and intrinsically rewarding.
Therefore, although job satisfaction represents an attitude rather than a behavior, OB researchers typically consider it an important dependent variable.
