1. (a) Write short notes on any two of the following : 10

3. (a) Give brief definitions of the following types of sentences :

Negative, Interrogative, Exclamatory and Imperative.

Give at least two examples for each type.    10

Write a note on how tense and aspect operate in the structure of verb phrases in English. Give an example each to illustrate your point.

(b) Make wh-questions corresponding to the bold italicised words in the following sentences. One is done for you :    5

4. (a) What do you understand by conversion and derivation as processes of word formation ? Give at least five examples for each type.    10

(iii)    They say that the new boss is very strict. (Passive voice)

(Combine into one simple sentence)
