2. The novel A Tale of Two Cities is mainly a novel about

freedom. Discuss.    20

3.    Write a critical note on the visual imagery in The Scarlet Letter.    20

4.    Nineteen Eighty Four is broadly concerned with the nature of truth and of the self. Discuss.    20

5.    Do you think the novel Things Fall Apart also appeals to readers across national boundaries ? Give reasons in support of your answer,    20

6.    What issues does the novel Paraja take up in respect of the

life of the tribals ? Explain and discuss.    20

7.    Comment on the theme of the old versus the new in the novel Sun/ighf on a Broken Column.    20

8.    Bring out the reasons for the emergence of the novel in England.    20
