ELECTIVE COURSE : ENGLISH EEG-3 : COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN ENGLISH

Time : 3 hours    Maximum Marks : 100

Note : Answer all the five questions.

1. Traffic jams are a familiar sight on Delhi roads. The photograph given below depicts such a scene. Write a report for the local newspaper about the problems faced by the commuters because of traffic jams and the urgency of taking measures to improve the situation (300 words).    20

The picture given above depicts a scene from a cricket match played between England and India. Cricket is a popular game in India and you read and watch every bit of news about the game in newspapers and on TV whereas your friend may think that too much importance is being given to cricket. Write a dialogue on this topic between you and your friend in about 300 words.    20

3. (a) You are K.P. Mittal, Section Officer, Administration, Petro Chemicals, Delhi. Write a memo asking the employees to note the changes in working hours to be implemented from 10th September 2007.

(b) Write a letter to your friend and his wife thanking them for their hospitality while you stayed with them in Mumbai during the Xmas break last. Say how much you appreciate the way they took care to make your stay a wonderful experience.    12

4.    Write a speech in favour of the motion, A scheme of internal assessment should completely replace terminal examinations in institutions of higher learning. (300 words).    20

OR

Explain to an audience the importance of interactive practice in class-room teaching. (300 words)

5.    Write a review of the film you have recently seen and liked very much for its direction, acting and the theme.    20

OR

Write a review of a collection of short stories you have recently read commenting on the style and theme of the stories included in it.
