a.    Give your views about the place of women in the modem society. Do you find any significant change when you compare their position in the traditional society?

b.    What steps have been taken by the government in recent years to deal with the various health problems of the women in the mral areas? Summarise in brief.

c.    During the cast several decades, there has been a constant rise in dowry deaths, bride burning and other forms of torture against women in India, both in urban and mral India. Explain this statement, pointing out the reasons for rise in crimes against women.

d.    What role can be successfully played by women in the economic and social development of India?

e.    Discuss briefly the consequences of gender discrimination in one urban and rural societies.

f.    The feminist, movement in India has produced many significant results in enhancing the social empowerment of our women. Give your views.

a.    Give a brief summary of the historical background of law relating to welfare of women in India.

b.    What protection has been provided by the Constitution of India for raising the status of women in the modem society?

c.    Rape, assault, molestation, kidnapping, illegal confinement and many other crimes against our mral and urban women in India have been increasing day by day. Explain the reasons.

d.    Write a note on the maintenance and custody of children in India.

e.    What protective legislation is available in India for safeguarding the right of women at their places of work?

f.    What role has been played by the NGOs in the upliftment of the status of women in our country, especially in the mral areas?

3    Attempt any two of the followings :    10x2=20

a. Discuss briefly the condition of life and work

of the scheduled caste people in the mral areas of our country.

b.    What efforts have been made by the government for raising the economic and social status of scheduled caste persons both in the rural and urban areas?

c.    Design a tentative plan for enhancing the social empowerment of the scheduled caste population in the Indian society.

4    Attempt any two of the followings :    10x2=20

a.    The constitution of India provides various safeguards for protection and promotion of the interests of the scheduled tribes. Discuss briefly.

b.    Write a note on the current occupational structure of the scheduled tribe people in the agricultural and industrial set up of India.

c.    Many reformers and social scientists feel that still the objectives of integrating the scheduled cast and scheduled tribe community in the main stream of society in India remains a far cry.
