1. It is proposed to construct a river bridge 250 m long estimated to cost Rs. 35 crores. The work consists of following activities : mobilization, survey and geotechnical investigations, design and approvals, foundation works, sub-structure works, precasting girders, superstructure works, abutment works, road works, finishing works, and Handing over taking over.
(a) Prepare work break-down structure that will help proper implementation 10 of the project.
(b) Describe the major points that shall be discussed in review meetings. 10
2. (a) Prepare a blank format for monthly progress report to be submitted by 10
the cortractor in respect to the work mentioned in Q. No. (1).
(b) Prepare checklist for any two important activities in above project. 10
3. (a) Why it is essential for a client organization to develop a sound quality 10
management system, particularly in construction works ?
(b) Write note on present scenario of quality in construction. 10
4. (a) Describe tools and techniques for QMS. How to use any one of them in 10
construction work.
(b) What are common causes of schedule delays that can be anticipated during 10
construction of a mass housing project ?
5. (a) Write note on cost codification system alongwith requirements of effective 10
cost codification system.
(b) Explain principal methods of productivity improvement. 10
6. Write detailed note on management of safety at construction sites. Consider 20 points such as various levels, aspects, training requirements etc.
7. (a) Describe cost and causes of accidents on construction sites and its 10
psychological impact.
(b) Explain use of new technology in context with quality control, health hazards, 10
monitoring, speed of work.
