(a) Pertaining lo the Simplex method explain the terms surplus, slack and artificial variables and llicir use.

Explain in brief methods lo improve reliability.

Explain and compare primal and dual LPPs.

3. (a) Solve the following LPP problem using Graphical method. Show the feasible region and mark 10 co-ordinates of all comer points.

(b) Solve the LPP problem in (a) using Simplex method.

6. Consider the transportation problem with three sources and four destinations. SQurce capacities and 20 destination demands arc shown in ihe table. Also mentioned are the unit transportation costs in the brackets.

Find the transportation cost using

(a)    North-west comer method

(b)    Least cost method

(c)    Vogels Approximation method.

7. Write notes on any two ofthe followings:    20

(a)    Two phase method of solving Linear Programming Problem.

(b)    Big M method of solving Linear Programming Problem.

(c)    Monte Carlo Simulation.
