I. Answer any THREE of the following questions in about 50 words each : (3 x 5 = 15)
1. Write a note on the issue of untranslatability.
2. How did Shakespeare exploit Holinsheds Chronicles?
3. Comment on culture and translation.
4. Appraise the translatability of the Nandan story.
5. Mention the issues related to the translation of dramatic texts.
II. Answer any THREE of the following questions in about 150 words each: (3 x 10 = 30)
6. Trace the growth of translation studies.
7. Examine the features of translation studies in the 19th and 20th centuries.
8. Analyze the contribution of post-colonial writers to translation.
9. Make an assessment of the achievements of Ashokamitran.
10. Write a critique of the translations of Catullus.
III. Answer any TWO of the following questions in about 300 words each: (2 x 15 = 30)
11. Examine the dramatic and non-dramatic materials of Shakespeare which he translated into fine plays.
12. Compare the translated version of Thirukkural with the source.
13. Appraise the issues involved in the translation of prose.
