PART A (3x5 = 15 marks)

Answer any THREE questions.

1.    Describe the merits of sampling method.

2.    Explain the significance of observation in social science research.

3.    What are deductive and inductive methods and explain their merits and demerits?

4.    Define hypothesis and explain the sources of formulating hypotheses.

5.    What is research? And explain the types of research in social science.

PART B (4 x 15 = 60 marks)

Answer any FOUR questions.

6.    Explain the pattern of writing research report.

7.    Explain the significance of software packages in social science research.

8.    The following table gives the yield rate on 15 samples under three varieties of seed. Viz. A, B and C. Is there any significant difference in the yield rate? Answer at 5% level, using one way ANOVA.

9.    The following sample data show the demand for a product and its price charged in six different market areas :

11.    Discuss the essential parts of statistical table.
