10. (a). A TV Manufacturer makes TVs at 3 locations Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai. The output from 3 plants are 20%, 30% and 50% respectively. Past experience indicates the percentage defectives fro the 3 units as 1%, 2% and 3% respectively. A customer at Hyderabad purchases a TV and obtained it to be defective. What is the probability that the defective unit was manufactured at Ahmedabad or Bangalore or Chennai?

(b). In the accounting department of a bank 100 accounts are opted at random and examined for errors. The subsequent outcomes have been found.

11. (a). What is estimation? How many kinds of statistical estimations are there? explain the characteristics of a good estimation.

(b). The means of 2 random samples of size nine and seven are 196.42 and 198.42 respectively. The sums of the squares of the deviations fro m the mean are 26.94 and 18.73 respectively. Can the samples be considered to have been drawn from the normal population?

12. (a) The number of scooter accidents per month in a certain town was as follows:
12,8,20,2,14,10,15,6,9,4
Use chi-square test to determine if these frequencies are in agreement with the belief that accident conditions were the identical during 10 month period.

(b). The subsequent data indicate the lifetime(in hours) of samples of 2 types of light bulbs in continuous use:
Brand A: 603 625 641 622 585 593 660 600 633
Brand B: 620 640 646 620 652 639 590 646 631
Use Mann-Whitney test and compare the lifetimes of Brand A and Brand B.

13. (a) What is statistical decision theory? discuss the steps in a generalized statistical decision theory.

(b). A physician purchase a particular vaccine on Mondays every week. The vaccine must be used in the current week, otherwise it loses its utility and has to be discarded. The vaccine costs Rs.3 per dose and physician charges Rs.5 per dose. In the past 30 weeks, the physician has administered the vaccines in the subsequent volumes.
