11.(a)state n derive newton legal regulations of viscosity.
(b)for velocity function=x(2y-1),find stream function.
12.(a)derive Bernoulli formula for flow along a stream line.state the significance of every term .
(b)a 45 deg reducing bend is connected in a pipe line,the diameters at inlet n outlet of the bend being 600mm n 300mm,resp.find the force exerted by water on the bend,if the intensity of pressure at inlet to the bend is .1 Mpa n rate of flow is 600lit/sec.
13.(a)derive an expression for discharge though a Venturi meter,using neat sketch.
(b)A pi tot tube is inserted in a pipe of 300mm diameter.the static pressure in the pipe is 100mm of mercury(vacuum).the stagnation pressure at the center of the pipe ,recorded by the pi tot tube is 0.01MPa.Calculate the rate of flow of rate of water through the pipe,if the mean velocity of the pipe is 0.85times the central velocity.Take coefficient of venturi meter=0.98.
14.(a)Differentiate ranging from Laminar and turbulent flow through a pipe
(b)show that in the case of laminar flow through pipe Velocity Avg=1/2Vmax.
15(a)derive Hagen formula for head loss through a pipe
(b)Determine the difference in the elevations ranging from the water surface in the 2 tanks which are connected by horizontal pipe of diameter 300mm and length 400mm.the rate of flow of water through the pipe is 300lps.consider all the losses. take f=0.008.
16.(a)explain with a neat sketch the phenomenon of flow of separation
(b) obtain the displacement thickness and momentum thickness for the velocity distribution provided by u/U=2(y/sigma)-(y/sigma)square with usual notation.
