UNIT-I

1. (a) State the difference ranging from metal shaping and metal machining process. Also explain applications and importance o,f these processes. [10]

(b) What is safety ? Why is it necessary and how it pays ? List the common safety measures needed to be taken in welding shop. [10]

2. (a) discuss the subsequent mechanical properties of engineering materials: toughness, stiffness, resilience, hardness and strength. [10]

(b) discuss the general properties, applications and the differences ranging from Mild Steel, Medium Carbon Steel and High Carbon Steel. [10]

UNIT-II

3.(a) What is a trend ? elaborate trend allowances ? Why different allowances are necessary for trend making ? [10]

(b) Name the kind of moulding boxes ? define and sketch a snap moulding box. [10]

UNIT-III .

5.(a) discuss the difference ranging from cold working and hot working of metals. [8]

(b) discuss the subsequent cold working processes :-
punching, blanking, piercing, forming, shearing, and bending. [12]

6. (a) What do you understand by the term 'Plant Layout' ? elaborate the objectives of plant layout ? How do you classify the various kinds of layouts ? discuss in brief. [10]

(b) What is a welding defect ? Name different welding defects, their causes and remedies. [12]
