UNIT I
1. (a) discuss the architecture of any 2 example networks.
(b) "Performance of Network depends on the channel". explain it with various transmission media
or
2. (a) State the need for layering the communication protocol. discuss the function of different layers of OSI model.
(b) State the functionality of network adapters. discuss the concept of memory bottle neck in network adapters.

UNIT-II
3. (a) How can we reconstruct the accurate signal inspite of trend violation in bipolar encoding?
(b) Why do we need modulation? Would it be right to simply send the info as the signal itself?
or
4. (a) What is the difference ranging from bit rate and daud rate? discuss with an example.
(b) provide the characteristics and using only half the possible combinations for safety, what level of QAM can be achieved?
(c) What would be the minimum sampling interval needed for reconstructing a signal where the height frequency is 1kHz?

5. (a) What is the purpose of Haming Code? compute the transmitted frame for the frame 1101011011 which has the generator G(x)=x^4+x+1
(b) explain in detail about sliding window protocol.

6. (a) What is need of fault detection and correction? explain in detail the redundancy check used in data communication.
(b) discuss Go Back N ARQ and Selective repeat ARQ are better methods for retransmission.

7. (a) explain shortest path and flow based routing algorithms
