12. One tonne per hour of dolomite is produced by a ball mill operating in closed circuit with a 100 mesh screen. The screen analysis (weight %) is given below. Calculate the screen efficiency.

13. What are the various types of crushers give some type of crushers and explain any one of them?

14. A material is crushed in a jaw crusher and the average size of the particle is reduced from 5cm to 1.3cm with consumption of energy at the rate of 37 Watt.hr/ton. What will be the consumption of energy necessary to crush the same material of average size 8 cm to an average size 3 cm. The mechanical efficiency remains same. (a) Using Rittingers law; (b) using Kicks law.

 

15. With neat diagram explain the working and operation of a cyclone separator.

16. A slurry containing 5 kg water per kg of solids is to be thickened to a sludge containing 1.5kg of water per kag of solids in a continuous operation. Laboratory tests using five different concentrations of the slurry yielded the following results:
