1. provide the role and significance of mathematical methods in scientific decision making. discuss various phases of issue analysis.

2. What do you understand by transportation problem? Explain, in brief 3 methods of obtaining initial feasible solution for a transportation issue.

3. In a bank. Every 15 minutes 1 customer arrives for cashing the cheque. The staff in the only payment counter takes 10 minutes for serving the customer on an avg.. State suitable assumptions and find:
(a) Average queue length
(b) Increase in the arrival rate in order to justify a 2nd counter (when the waiting tome of a customer is at lowest 15 minutes the management will increase 1 more counter).

4. What is inventory management? elaborate the different costs involved in an inventory problem? How are they interrelated?

5. The subsequent table provide the activities in a construction project and other relevant information:

8. A computer centre has got 4 expert programmers. The centre needs 4 application programmers to be developed. The head of the computer centre, after studying carefully the programmers to be developed, estimates the computer time in minutes needed by the respective experts to develop the application programs as follows:
