projects. Analyze every of the areas in detail. ( nine marks)

7. According to the caselet, the project manager can manage the challenges that come across while implementing ERP projects by
using different key aspects. what are the key aspects of managing challenges explained in the caselet. ( eight marks)

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integrates all the data and processes of an organization into a unified system. Most ERP
packages integrate several functions including Human Resources, Supply Chain Management, Customer Relations Management,
Financials, Manufacturing functions and Warehouse Management functions. Implementing an ERP system in an organization
takes a lot of planning, consulting and time. Since lots of modifications take place and affect every individual of the company, it is
important that everyone should be on board and make the project successful.
Knowledge of ERP systems is essential for project managers to understand the basics of its implementation, phases of
implementation and the critical success factors. It helps them to manage and motivate a team, to resolve complex issues, to create,
analyze and replace the project plans. The deployment of ERP impacts the architectures of the organization as well as the
software. Architectures include tech. architecture, data architecture, application architecture and enterprise architecture. ERP
helps in several aspects such as streamlining the business processes, reducing system info complexity, incorporating
enterprise-wide integration through data sharing and consolidation and rapid evolution to new technology. There are different areas
which have to be considered for the successful implementation of ERP projects.
Since production and manufacturing operations are complex, diverse and wide-spread, ERP systems are designed to cope up with
the geographically segregated functional bodies. But global ERP project implementation faces several problems including decisionmaking
in various time horizons, geographical dispersion, etc.
