PART-A
1. (a) elaborate the various kinds of compressors used for mining Industry? discuss
any 1 kind of compressors used in mining Industry. (10 marks)
(b) discuss the field of application of power generation by electricity.
2. (a) discuss briefly the merits and demerits of centrifugal and reciprocating
compressor.

(b) discuss briefly the working of Reciprocating compressor. (10 marks)
3. (a) Mention the various classification of mine transport system.

(b) discuss endless rope haulage system, with its application and limitations
(7 marks)
(c) A direct rope haulage system is to be used in a drift mine 1000 m long which
dip’s at one in four against the load, An output of 700 tonnes/shift of seven hours hauling
time is to be found. The maximum speed of the haulage will be 15 km/hour.
Determine the number of trains/set required, if the trains hold two tonnes of coal.

tonnes of coal per hour at a speed of 120 m/min. presume roller friction to be 0.02
and
the weight if idlers and belt per minute run to be 80 kgs. (10 marks)
