1.    (a) Give the comparison between microprocessor and microcontroller. (6 Marks) (b) List out the typical applications of microprocessors and microcontrollers. (4 Marks)

2.    j[a)    Draw and explain the memory structure of 8051.    (6 Mark?)

(b)    List out the different bit addressable SFR's available in 8051.    (4 Marks)

(c)    Write an assembly language program to find the square root of a number and store in Rq,    (10 Marks)

3.    (a) Explain with diagram the feature and operation of port 1.    (6 Marks)

(b)    Configure PI to read switches at P1.0 and Pl.l. If PI.0 is high, tarn on a relay connected to P2,5 by sending logic high output. If P1.0 is low dear P2.5. If the status of the switch at PI. 1 is high, turn off the relay connected t P2.6 by sending logic low output. If Pl.l is low, set P2.6 to high state.    (8 Marks)

(c)    Define machine cycle and calculate time per M/C, assuming stonaard operating frequency of 11.0592 MH2.    (6 Marks)

4.    (a) Explain with examples the different addressing modes used in 8051. (8 Marks)

(b)    Calculate time required to PUSH DPTR, B, A, PSW and PC on to the stack. Assume f = 11.0592 MHz.    (5 Marks)

(c)    Why Is 8051 called Boolean processor. Justify.    (4 Marks)

(d)    Justify why 8051 is operated at frequency of 11.0592 MHz.    (3 Marks)

5.    (a) Explain different modes of operation of timer/counter with relevant block diagrams.

(b) Design a counter system to count no. of people walking through a secured door.

. The electronic sensor system connected to the door gives a pulse output for each person who walks through the door. Display the number of persons cross through the door using LED's connected at Port 0 and Port 1, Port 0 indicate lower byte of the count. Use counter 0 operated In mode 0.    (8 Marks)

6.    (a) What is serial communication? How is this achieved with 8051 using RS232C

standards?    (6 Marks)

(b)    Explain the format of SCON register in details,    (6 Marks)

(c)    Write an assembly language program to transfer the message 'GOOD LUCK' serially at 9600 band, 8 bit data. 1 stop bit.    (8 Marks)

7.    (a) Explain interrupt structure of 8051 and facility available for programming of

(b)    What is the default priority assigned to various interrupts after reset? Is it possible to after priority and how? .    . .    <5 Marks)

(c)    Write an assembly language program to use timer 1 to read input from Port 1, complement it and to output via Port 2. This transfer is to be done once in 50 msec.    t-v-    ' - - t-    (8 Marks)

8.    (a) Write an assembfy language program for a temperature monitoring system to main

tain the temperature of a oven at reference temperature (2cy).

If the measured temperature {Taa) is larger than TRef at any time switch off heater to bring down the temperature. If Teas is below    turn ON the

heater to increase temperature. Use ADC804 and tempercmjre sensor LM35, with Ref = 1.28V" at ADC to get digital O/P proportional to temperature.

(b) Interface stepper motor of 3 kg/cm torque and 1.8 step size to Port 1 of 8051 and write an assembly language program to rotate stepper motor 1 revolution clockwise and stop,    (8 Marks)
