Section I
Marks: 30
Answer any TWO of the following questions (2 x 15 marks). Limit your answer to 250 words.
1. What are the arguments put forward by various stake holders in the debate on the commercial introduction of genetically modified Bt brinjal in India? How do you see the decision to place a moratorium on the commercial introduction of Bt Brinjal by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Government of India in relation to the stake holders arguments?
2. The content of science is influenced by the society. Justify your answer.
3. Discuss the consequences of the Green Revolution for agricultural productivity, environment and social structure in India.
4. In India abundant sunlight is available for 330 days in a year. We are not able to harness solar energy for meeting our energy needs. Is this only due to the failure of scientists and technologists? Explain your answer.
5. Jawaharlal Nehru said: The future belongs to those who make friends with science. Critically evaluate this statement.
6. What is globalization? Discuss its relations with technology.

Marks: 20
Write an essay of 200 words on any TWO of the following topics (2 x 10 marks)

Section III
Marks: 25
1. Formulate a research problem to carry out your doctoral research in the area of science, technology and society studies. Delineate its theoretical, methodological and operational aspects.
