1.    Write SnI CB mechanism and various evidences which support this mechanism.

2.    (a) What are the selection rules lor d - d transitions ?

(1)) Explain the various factors affecting X, values in transition metal octahedral complexes.

3.    (a) Explain magnetically dilute and magnetically concentrated species.

(Ii) Plot graph for magnetic susceptibility V temperature for paramagnetic, ferromagnetic and anti ferromagnetic species.

4.    (a) Explain the d orbital splitting in a square planar crystal field.

(b) Draw the crystals field splitting of :D and 3F tenns in octahedral fields.

5.    Explain the factors which affect the acid hydrolysis reactions in octahedral complexes.

6.    Discuss the molecular orbital theory of metal ligand bonding in oc tahedral complexes containing no :i bond.

Or, Discuss the molecular orbital theoiy of metal lignad bonding in octahedral complexes containing n bond.

7.    Explain the origin of paramagnetism. I low can you calculate magnetic moment of the ion, atom and molecule responsible for paramagnetism from magnetic susceptibility.

8.    (a) Draw molecular orbital diagram of [Co(M I.P* and explain it.

(1)) Discuss the experimental evidences in support of covalencv of metal-ligaiul bonding.

9.    Explain any THREE of the following. Why ?

(a)    Why are d - d transitions so weak as comared to metal-ligand charge transfer transitions ?

(b)    Rate constant of acid hydrolysis is much lower than the base hydrolysis ?

(c)    Both [Fc(CN)fJJ and Fc(H20)6f * ions appears colourless in dilute aqueous solution through one is LS and the other is HS complex ?

(d)    Magnetic moment of a first transition series meal complex often approaches the |js?

10. Write notes on am- TWO of the following

(a) Magnetic behaviour of Ferromagnetism anil Anti Ferromagnetism.

(c)    Theories of Trans-Effect.
