1. Discuss the M.O. diagrams of NO, CO and HC/ molecule and predict their magnetic properties.
2. What are the basic postulates of Valence Bond theory? What is difference between an inner orbital complex an outer complex? Discuss with one example each. What are important limitation of valence bond theory.

3. What is crystal field theory? How does it differs from Valence bond theory? How does this theory account for the fact that [COFe] 3 is paramagnetic but [Co(NH3)6]+3 is diamagnetic though both are Octahedral.
4. Write the Schordinger wave equation in terms of polar co-ordinates. How do the quantum number n, I, m emerges from the solution of wave equation.
5. What do you understand by the term symmetry element, symmetry operations and symmetry groups?
6. What do you mean by the dual nature of a particle. Derive an expression for de-Broglie relationship. How was it Verified? Calculate de-Broglie wave length of moving ball with velocity of 440ms"1.
7. What are the important ores of Molybdenum. Give the details of the extraction of M0 from one of its ore. Write short notes on ammonium Molybdenate.
8. What are lanthanides? Discuss their electronic configuration and similarity of their properties. What are consequences of lanthanide contraction. Discuss the paramagnetic behaviour of f- block elements.
