14.Case Study:

The Chief Executive Officer of a company has received a long letter from an employee in the shipping department, complaining that he did not get a promotion to which he felt himself entitled. The reason, claims the employee, is that his supervisor has a grudge against him. Moreover, he claims, the supervisor’s judgment cannot be relied on. In his letter, he discloses a number of violations of company policy that the supervisor has countenanced and a number of private deals that have been worked out in the department.
