EC 945 HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING NETWORKS

PART-A

ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS (5x2= 10)

1.    Determine the data rate of a Digitized voice signal with SNR of 48db, sampling rate of 8KHz and

number of bits per sample.

2.    Define Efficiency of a Go Back N Protocol.

3.    What is the significance of Sub netting?

4.    List the parameters of the traffic defined by Generalized Cell Rate Algorithm.

5.    Calculate the maximum fiber length ..gien that minimum received optical power Pr=-45dBm, Data

rate of lGbps, Attenuation Of 0.2Db/km ,Transmitter power Pt=lMw

Answer five questions choosing one full question from each unit. (5 X 10= 50)

Unit-I

ain in detail various Multiplexing techniques of a basic network.

8.Describe    how a packet with a given MAC destination address finds its way in a network of Ethernets connected by Bridges.

lO.Using Bellman Ford Algorithm, compute the length of the shortest path to the destination of a node from the source by choosing a network having not less than seven nodes.

14.Consider an optical fiber propagating a beam of light .Suppose the power of beam launched into the fiber is P,. Calculate the receiver power Pt after travelling L km of fiber.
