(Restructured Course) Branch : Mass Communication and Video Production Core : Journalism VIDEOGRAPHY AND SOUND RECORDING (VOCATIONAL)

Time : Three Hours    Maximum : 100 Marks

Answer question 1 and four others.

All questions carry equal marks.

I. Write short notes on any five of the following, each answer not exceeding 50 words.

1    Lapel.

2    A-B Roll Editing.

3    Colour Temperature.

4    Sound Overlap.

5    Imaginary Line.

6    Match Cut.

7    Sound Perspective.

8    Time code.

II. Explain the microphone placement for a live recording of a musical programme with two singers and an orchestra compressing of violin, tabala, flute and guitar.

III.    Draw a floor plan for shooting a discussion programme on 'International Film Festival of Kerala in a modern video studio with three cameras and sufficient number of lights. You have three discussants for the programme. Mark their positions as well as camera, lights and exhibits, if any.

IV.    Analyse the sound effects in a movie that you have seen recently.

V. Give a detailed description of a segmented shooting of a controlled situation like an experiment on demonstration what would be your method of emphasizing the action and managing the performer movement ?

VI. What is sound editing ? Compare it with visual editing.

VII. What are the different types of camera movements ? Explain the significance of and meaning of camera movements by citing examples from world renowned movies that you have seen.

VIII. Differentiate between soft and high contrast light. When is the former used ?
