1. (a) discuss how a media processor di®er from a DSP processor.
(b) elaborate the techniques of power and energy management in an embedded system? Ex-
plain them in brief.
2. (a) elaborate the 16-bit data addressing registers of the 8051 microcontroller and discuss their
functions.
(b) Tabulate the special function register by making 4 columns as register, bit, primary
function and bit addressable.
3. (a) Brie°y discuss the Boolean bit-level operations.
(b) Write an assembly language program to double the number in register R2 and put the
outcome in register R3 (high byte) and R4 (low byte). Also write comment on this.
4. (a) discuss with suitable example, how to perform increment and decrement the contents of
registers and RAM using relevant mnemonics.
(b) Write an assembly language program to increment the contents of RAM locations 13th,
14th, and 15th using indirect addressing. Place comments on every line of code.
5. With the aid of neat diagram the design approach of interfacing Analog-to-Digital converter to
8051 microcontroller based embedded system. Write down the necessary program.

(b) discuss Inter Process Communication with an example.
7. (a) discuss the operating system units in an RTOS kernel.
(b) discuss the advantages of time slice scheduling by an RTOS.
8. (a) elaborate the different embedded system high-performance processors? discuss any 1 of
them in detail.
(b) provide the features and a comparison of exemplary high performance ARM family of pro-
cessors.
