Note : Attempt any five ques. in all.


Q1 ( a ) discuss the principles of the subsequent input devices in detail:

(i) mouse (ii) tablets (iii) light pen


( b ) If a TV screen has 525 scan lines and an aspect ratio of 3:4 and if every pixel contains eight bits worth of intensity information, how many bits per 2nd are needed to show 30 frames every second?

Q2 ( a ) find the instance transformation matrix needed for deriving fig. B from fig. A. Fig A is defined by 3 verities A(2,1), B(4,1), C(3,2) and fig. B is defined by vertices A(-4,-2), B(-2,-2), C(-3,-1).

( b ) Illustrate different techniques of mapping 3D objects on a 2D graphics screen with the help of suitable figure. Also drive the suitable transformation matrices for the identical. 7

Q3 ( a ) elaborate "viewing transformations"? Differentiate ranging from window and viewport transformations.


( b ) discuss the working of Z-buffer algorithm.

( c ) Wha is image sampling?


Q4 ( a ) discuss the working of Sutherland Hodgman algorithm for polygon clipping with the help of a suitable example.

( b ) Generate a line y=2x + 10 using Bressenham's line generation algorithm.


( c ) discuss in brief physical device coordinate system and normalized device coordinate system. 3



Q5 ( a ) obtain the general form of the matrix for reflection about a line 'L' with slope 'm' and y intercept (0,6).

( b ) define the working principle of raster refresh display tube. how are various grey levels incorporated in it. 5

( c ) provide and discuss the pseudo code for the basic ray tracing algorithm. 4


Q6 ( a ) discuss the basic characteristics of light in terms of luminance, hue and saturation. Also develop Phong's model for reflection of light from object surfaces to the user's eye.

( b ) describe fractals? how are they classified? provide the methodology for subdividing the objects with Euclidian dimensions.

( c ) Compare and contrast the TIFF file formats, with the RIFF formats. 4

Q7 Write short notes on any 3 of the following:

( a ) Animation techniques

( b ) Color models

( c ) quantity rendering

( d ) Filtering techniques

( e ) Multi-particle systems
