(e)    Distinguish between star and delta connection in three phase circuits.

II.    (a) Stale Thevenin's theorem in electric circuits.    (5) (b) Use Thevenins theorem to find the current through 70 in the following circuit. 0)

III.    (a) Explain what is meant by the terms electric Held intensity and flux density. What relation (5)

exists between these two?

(b) Two parallel metal plates of large area are spaced at a distance of 10mm from each other (10) in air. A sheet of glass 5mm thick with a relative permitivity of 6 is introduced between the plates. A potential difference of5000V is applied between the plates. Determine the electric field intensities in air and in the glass sheet

IV.    (a) Distinguish between statically induced emf and dynamically induced emf.    (5)

(b) A mild steel ring of 30cm mean circumference has a cross sectional area of 6 cm2 and has (10)

a winding of 500 turns on it. The ring is cut through at a point so as to provide an air gap of I mm in the magnetic circuit. It is found that a current of 4A in the winding produces a flux density of IT in the air gap. Find

(i)    relative permeability of the mild steel

(ii)    inductance of the winding.

OR

V.    (a) Derive the expression for r.m.s value of a sine wave.    (5)
