Time : 3 Hours ] [ Maximum Marks : 50

Note : Attempt 1 ques. from every Unit. All ques. carry equal marks.

UNIT-I

1. (a) discuss inertial and non-inertial frames of reference.

(b) Prove that in 2 inertial frames of reference which are connected through Galileon transformation, the legal regulations of conservation of energy remains invariant.

OR

(a) For relativistic velocities discuss the phenomenon of length contraction and also derive an expression for it.

(b) Prove that an electron having mass m and kinetic energy k produces a matter wave of wavelength ? = h/v2mk.

OR

(a) define the process of formation of wave packet.
(b) discuss teh wave velocity and group velocity and obtain relation ranging from them.

UNIT-3

3. Write short notes on the subsequent :

(a) Basic Postulates of Quantum Mechanics.
(b) Role of operators in Quantum Mechanics.

OR

Solve the radial part of Schrodinger formula for Hydrogen atom and also determine the maximum probable distance of electron from the nucleus of hydrogen.

OR

define the molecular spectra and its discrete energy levels on the basis of the subsequent points :
(i) Electromagnetic Field
(ii) Quantization
(iii)Transition rules

UNIT-5

5. discuss a-decay with the help of Gamow theory.

OR

(a) explain the fundamental nature of nuclear forces on the basis of p-p and n-n scattering.
