I.    Describe the types, causes and effects of earthquakes and discuss their monitoring and prediction. Add a note on the features of earthquake-resistant structures.

OR

II.    Describe the geological action of streams and related geomorphic features.

III.    Give an account of the important physical properties used in the identification of minerals and list the megascopic characters of any five important minerals.

OR

IV.    Describe the feldspar and pyroxene groups of minerals.

V.    Describe the forms of igneous rocks. Discuss how igneous rocks are classified.

OR

VI.    Give an account of the engineering properties of rocks with suitable examples from common rocks.

VII.    Classify and describe joints. Write a note on the significance of joints in Rngineering geology and I lydrogeology.

OR

VIII.    Give the nomenclature of various geometric elements of folds and describe how they are used in classification of folds. Discuss how folds are recognized in the field.

IX.    Describe the techniques of groundwater exploration.

OR

X.    Briefly describe the stratigraphy of India highlighting the age and occurrence of major economic and building-stone deposits of India.
