7CS4 ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Attempt overall 5 ques. selecting any 1 ques. from every unit. All ques. carry equal marks. (Schematic diagrams must be shown whenever necessary. Any data you feel missing may suitably be presumed and said clearly. Units of volumes used/calculated must be said clearly.)

UNIT - I
Q.1.(a) Write 3 major steps that are needed to build a system to solve a particular issue. Why rules for solving a issue should written in a general form? (3+3=6)

(b) Write Production rules and provide 1 solution for solving subsequent Water Jug issue :
"You are provided 2 jugs, a 4-gallon and a 3-gallon one.Neither has any measuring markers on it. There is a pump that can be used to fill the jugs with water. How can you get exactly two gallons of water into the 4-gallon jug?" (10)

Q.2.(a) What do you mean by Heuristic Search? define Hill-climbing procedure. how to deal with the issues of the local maximum, plateau and ridge. (1+6+3=10)
(b) Write AO* algorithm. (6)

Q.3. Consider the subsequent set of phrases :
(a) Marcus was a man.
(b) Marcus was a Pompeian.
(c) All Pompeians were Romans.
(d) Caesar was a ruler.
(e) All Romans were either loyal to Caesar or hated him.
(f) Everyone is loyal to someone.
(g) People only try to assassinate rulers they are not loyal to.
(h) Marcus tried to assassinate Caesar.
Convert these phrases in WFFs in predicate logic and try to ans the question:
