1.    Convert the following:

(a)    (1101:11)2 to decimal

(b)    (198) 12 to decimal

(c)    (725) 10 to binary

(d)    (2AC5.D)16 to decimal.

2.    A combinational circuit has 4 inputs and-one output, the output is equal to 1 when all inputs are equal to 1 or none of the inputs are equal to 1 or an odd number of inputs is equal to 1.

What are the different types of logic families? Give a comparison of different families with

regard to speed, power dissipation, noise margin, fan in and fan out.

(b) Explain the working of CMOS inverter.

5.    (a) Design a BCD to excess-3 encoder.

(b) What are the different types of flip-flops? Give the details.

6.    (a) What is race around condition? Give the solution

to this problem in flip-flops.

(b) Design a ripple counter using J-K flip-flop.

7.    (a) Design and explain the Half adder circuit.

(b) Show with the example of Radix and radix conversion.

8.    Write short notes on any two:

(a)    Error detecting and correcting codes

(b)    Shift register

(c)    Diode switching matrix

(d)    Quine-McClusky technique.
