1 Describe with neat diagram construction and working principle of electro dynamometer type wattmeter. Derive torque equation and discuss various errors in this type of wattmeter.

1    Explain giving a neat sketch the construction and principle of operation of a single phase induction type of energymeter. Derive its torque equation. Also explain phantom loading method of testing single-phase induction type energy meter.

2    (a) Explain how power can be measured in a three phase

circuit with the help of two wattmeters. Illustrate with

the help of a piiasor diagiaia for a balanced star load.

(b) A co-ordinate type potentiometer is used for determin of impedance of a coil and the results obtained are

Voltage across a 1.0 ohm resistor in geries with the +0.238 V on in-phase dial and -0.085 V on a quadrature dial.


Voltage across a 10:1 potential divider used with the coil: +0.3375 V on in-phase dial and +0.232 V on quadrature dial.

Calculate the resistance and reactance of the coil.
