until a 100 kg weight is raised 0.4 m. Calculate the workdone by the expanding air on the weight. Atmospheric pressure is 80 kPa and the cylinder diameter is 0.3 m. Neglect friction.    5

(b) Air is expanded in a piston.Cylinder arrangement at a constant pressure of 200 kPa from a volume of 0.1 m3 to a volume of 0.3 m3. Then the temperature is held constant during an expansion of 0.5 m3. Determine the total work done by the air.    5

4.    The inside pressure of a steam boiler is 0.95 MPa. It contains 6.0 m3of steam and 3 m3 of water. Steam is taken out at constant pressure until 2 m3 of water is left. What is the heat transfer during the process ?    10

5. (a) Show that for an ideal gas, the slope of the constant volume line on the T-s diagram is more than that of the constant pressure line.
