6. Critically examine the law relating to retrenchment in India bringing out clearly the judicial perception of the definition of retrenchment in section 2(oo) of the I.D. Act, 1947 and consequences that follow in law in not complying with Section 25-F or Section 25-N of the Act, whichever is applicable. Discuss the new approach of the Supreme Court in respect of the reliefs to be granted for violation of Section 25-F of the. Act.

7. With the object of pursuing their genuine grievances and to collectively bargain with the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, teaching faculties of all IITs form themselves into an Association of Teaching Faculty of IITs in India. They approach you to seek your advice on the following :

(a)    Whether their Association falls within the definition of trade union and what is the scope of the inquiry that the Registrar can make under the Act while considering their application for registration.

(b)    Formalities that they have to comply with for getting their Association registered under the Trade Unions Act, 1926.

(c)    What role, if any, the Registrar has under the Act after he registers their Association as a trade union.
