MUSIC Paper-I (Theory)
Time : 3 Hours
Maximum Marks: 40
Candidate have to attempt 5 questions,
choose 2 ques. from every Section-A
and Section-B and the remaining 1 ques. from any part
All ques. carry equal marks.

SECTION-A
1. Write any 2 of the subsequent in Notation :
(a) A Fast Khayal or a Fast Gat in any Rag of your option.
(b) Antara of Drupad or a Dhun in any Rag.
(c) Sthayee of a Slow Khayal or a Slow Gat in any Raga of your
choice.
2. discuss any 2 of the subsequent Ragas through Alaps and
mention the notes on which Nyas can be taken. Also write two
Tans or Todas in every :
Asawari, Tilang and Bahar
3. Compare and contrast any 2 of the subsequent pairs of Ragas :
(a) Bageshwari and Rageshwari
(b) Asawari and Todi
(c) Malkauns and Hindol
4. define the subsequent Ragas in detail
(i) Any Poorvangvadi Raga of your course.
(ii) Any Uttrangvadi Raga of your option.
5. Write Aroh, Avroh and Pakad of the subsequent Ragas :
Malkauns, Bahar, Hindol, Tilang.

SECTION-B
6. discuss the Swaras of North Indian music and compare them
with the Swaras of South Indian music.
7. What is the contribution of the Film Music in popularizing Indian
Classical music?
8. provide the definition, number and names of all Shrutis and discuss
how Pt. Bhatkhande established his Shudha swaras on these
Shrutis.
9. Write any tow Talas with Dugun, Tigun and Chougun of your
choice.
10. define any Rag from your syllabus, with 4 Alaps and four
Tans or Todas.
