part - I

1. a) State and discuss different kinds of errors introduced in measurement of electrical volumes.
b) 2 wattmeters connected to measure the input to a balanced 3 phase circuit indicate 2000 W and 500 W respectively. obtain the power factor of the circuit when (i)both the readings are positive, (ii) the later studying is found after reversing the connections to the current coil of the 1st instrument.

2. a) discuss construction and working principle of attraction kind of moving iron instrument. Draw neat diagram
b) Derive the formula for computation of multipliers. State the requirement of multipliers.

3. a) With the help of neat diagram, discuss working of mechanical resonance kind frequency meter. State the limitations of the meter.
b) discuss the construction and working of P.M.M.C. instruments. Derive the torque formula for P.M.M.C. instrument.

4. Write short notes on any 3 of the followings:
a) Damping of galvanometer.
b) Synchroscope.
c) Nadler Lipman power factor meter.
d) Reactive power measurement in 3 phase circuit.


part - II

5. a) Derive the balancing condition for Maxwell's Inductance bridge with a diagram of bridge.
b) A Maxwell's capacitance bridge as shown in figure A is used to measure an unknown inductance in comparison with capacitance. The different values at balance: R2 = 400 Ohm, R3 = 600 Ohm, R1 = 1000 Ohm, C4 = 0.5 micro F. compute values of R1 and L1. Alsoo compute the value of storage (Q) factor of coil if frequency is 1000 Hz.

6. a) With the help of block diagram discuss working of ramp kind DVM (Digital Voltmeter).
b) With neat diagram, discuss working of single phase energy meter.

7. a) With near block diagram, discuss the working of digital oscilloscope.
b) Where and how are the current transformers (CTs) and potential transformers (PTs) used? Wxplain with neat diagrams.

8. Write short notes on any 3 of the followings.
a) Wheatstone bridge.
b) Digital multimeter.
c) Electronic counter.
d) Wave analyzer.
e) Harmonic distortion analyzer.
