It seems plausible that stress could contribute to development of cancer. a few people who statistical risk of the disease is low develop aggressive, untreatable tumours. And a few people whose risks are quite high –heavy smokers, for example –live in to their 90s and die in their sleep. Could the factor that the scales against the 1st group be an unhealthy response to stress?

The idea is not new. Galen Greek physician in the 2nd century AD, observed that perpetually sad women were particularly sad women were particularly prone to cancer. a few then, many doctors have noted that a disprotionate number of cancer patients have histories of having shouldered emotional burdens.

But is the connection a matter of conventional wisdom (which is often wrong) or scientific fact ?In animals, at least, the links re real. Studies involving animals-mostly rats-have slowly built case for the link ranging from stress and the progression of cancerous tumours. In 1 such study, rats exposed to tumour –promoting substances developed cancer at a much faster rate when subjected to the stress of random electrical shocks than rats that were spared the shock or provided the means to control it.

VIII Write a critical appreciation of the subsequent poem commenting on its theme and stylistic features:-

TO BE CHILD
Pieces of silk and happiness,
Biscuits of butter and tears,
Cakes that go dancing
And fly to the moon
Hidden born dreams
Corn with ears.
Smiles made of wickedness and chocolate
Laughter that rings through the air
This is the kingdom of children,
Oh how I wish I were there,
Faces all sticky with naughtiness,
Finely spun thread that is hair,
This is the kingdom of children,
Oh how I wish I were there,
-Nisha Miller.
(1*8=8)
VIII. Write a critical appreciation of the subsequent commenting on its theme and stylistic features:-

What my mother obtained wanting in my dad I could never discover. To all appearance there was no more devoted and loyal husband to be met with anywhere husband who made no demands on his wife, on the contrary was ready to ans any and every demand from her. In true fact, he seriously weakened his splendid constitution and went very near ruining his worldly career for her sake, Yet she was always complaining of his conduct towards her. She seemed to be like the person who did not know what he wanted and was not happy because he did not have it. Occasionally she told us that when were grown up she would tell us why she was not happy and then we would understand. The obvious conviction and sincerity with which she stated this made me feel very sad, and I wondered what the hidden tragedy of her life could be.
