1. (a) Why does a computer use binary numbers for its internal processing? (5 marks)
(b) discuss the internal architecture of 8086 microprocessor with a neat

2. (a) define the sequence of signals that occurs on the address bus, the control
bus and data bus when a simple microcomputer fetches an instruction. (8 marks)
(b) How the physical address of a data byte in 8086 is computed? discuss with
an example. (7 marks)

3. (a) discuss with examples, how based and indexed addressing modes are used
to access data in 8086 programs. (8 marks)
(b) Write a delay loop which produces a delay of 500µS on an 8086 with a five MHz clock. (7 marks)

6. (a) elaborate the various operating modes of 8255? explain how to determine
the control word for 8255. (9 marks)
(b) explain how 8253 is used to generate delay. (6 marks)

7. (a) define the different features given in 80386 and 80486 microprocessors.
