8. What is the basis of wavelength division multiplexing?
9. Define Noise figure of an optical amplifier.

10. Determine the core radius necessary for single mode operation at 0.82 µm of a stop index fiber with n1 = 1.480 and n2 = 1.478.
11. What are macrobending losses and microbending losses? discuss with diagram.
12. What are rate equations? discuss the rate equations for a semiconductor laser.
13. Explain a optical fiber synchronous network.
14. Give the principle and design of optical amplifiers.
