ELECTRONICS AND INSTRUMENTATION
FIFTH SEMESTER

MODULE 1
Introduction to control systems-basic idea of control systems and their classifications- transfer function- transfer function of electrical, mechanical and electromechanical system – block diagram- signal flow graph – mason’s gain formula

MODULE 2
Time domain analysis – kind and order of a system –typical test signals for the time response of control system – unit step, unit ramp and unit impulse- response of 1st and 2nd order systems-steady state error- static and dynamic fault coefficients –concepts of stability- route Hurwitz criterion – basic ideas of proportional , derivative and integral controllers- study of electronic PID controllers

MODULE 3
Frequency domain analysis –frequency response- frequency domain specifications-bode plot- Nichol’s chart- nyquist stability criterion- relative stability –gain margin –phase margin study of DC motor as a controlled system

MODULE 4
Root locus technique – basic theory and properties of root loci-procedure for construction of root loci- fault detectors- compensation techniques- lag compensator-lead compensator –lag lead compensator

MODULE 5
Control system components- synchronous – recovers- rotating amplifiers –magnetic amplifier- amplifying- taco generators- DC and AC servo motors-Gyroscopes- stepper motor
